Bronzers FAQs

What is bronzer?

Bronzer is a makeup product that anyone can use to add a sun-kissed glow to their complexion, enhance a tan or sculpt facial features. It's used to add shadows and warmth to areas of the face, such as the cheekbones, hairline and jawline.

The most popular type of bronzer is powder bronzer, but other formulas can include cream, liquid and stick. You can discover some of the best bronzers for a summer glow, here.

Where do you apply bronzer?

Bronzer can be applied to areas of the face, including along the forehead, hairline, cheekbones and jawline. Applying bronzer to these areas not only gives the illusion of a natural sun-kissed glow, but helps to frame your face.

Other formulas, such as liquid bronzers, can be applied to areas of your body, such as your collarbones, legs and shins, in order to help blur, sculpt and enhance a real tan.

How do you apply bronzer?

A typical way of applying bronzer is using the '3' method. To do this, simply take a bronzing or contour brush and sweep the bronzer across your skin in the shape of a '3'. Start at the middle of your hairline and bring the bronzer out towards your temples. Sweep the bronzer along your cheekbones and then down underneath your ear, along the jawline towards your chin.

If you want to add a subtle sun-kissed touch to your complexion, gently brush the bronzer along the areas of the face you wish to add warmth to.

Can I wear blusher and bronzer together?

Blusher and bronzer can be combined and worn together to create a natural, warm look. Apply the bronzer first to areas of your face that the sun would naturally darken, such as the cheekbones, hairline and jawline. We recommend using a matte bronzer that's free from shimmer and glitter for best results. You can then use a blusher to add a pop of colour and natural radiance to the apples of your cheeks.

Ensure that before applying blusher and bronzer, you have completed your base makeup, including foundation, concealer and setting powders.
