The Top Festival Makeup Looks for Summer
So you’re going to a festival? Woopdeedoo! Whether you’re hitting up Isle of Wight, Leeds or the mother of all festivals, Glastonbury, you need to be prepared. And by that we mean, you need to plan your makeup looks. If you can’t be extra with your makeup at a festival then when can you, really?
Of course, we all love body jewels and excessive amounts of glitter – it’s basically the definition of festival makeup (and don’t worry we’ve still featured our fave looks) – but this year, we’re feeling bright eyeshadow, bold lips and pops of sparkle. To give you inspiration for your 2019 shenanigans, we’ve rounded up our favourite festival beauty looks. If only there were 15 days to a festival so we could work each and every one of these.
A Touch of Playfulness:
NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palette
Colourful eyeshadow is FTW and what better way to make a statement than by using all the colours of the rainbow? This NYX palette is the ultimate festival beauty product.
Lime Crime Matte Velvetines Lipstick
Round up this look with a subtle lippy like this Velvetines – it’ll draw all the attention to your eyes and really make them pop! You'll seriously be the envy of all festival-goers.
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick
This lipstick look is perfect for when you’re in a rush to see your favourite band but still want to look striking. It’s bold and sexy and also super easy to top up while you're in the crowds (as long as it’s not a mosh pit...)
Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Duo Chrome
Love glitter but hate the fuss? Then this simple glitter eye makeup is for you. It’s quick, requires minimal energy (yay, a lie in...if that's possible at a festival?) and it's still super fun.
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner
Try something a little different and take the glitter below your eyes for fun festival chic. This Studio 54-inspired look is all you need to boogie the weekend away. Recreate it with this eyeliner in Glamrock.
Urban Decay Holographic Disco Stick
Finalise the look with this highlighter stick for that glowing, dewy radiance. (Side note: this highlighter can and should be used in conjunction with all of your festival makeup looks.)
MAC Pop Eye Shadow
We live for an orange and pink colour combo and this look is everything. Add sexy fuchsia to your eyes using MAC’s eyeshadow in Ruddy.
Lime Crime Unicorn Hair Tint
Create the contrast with a splash of Neon Peach to give this look life. You won’t regret dying your locks when you look this damn good in the fields.
Glitter & Jewels Galore:
Lottie London Self Adhesive Face Gems Sunset Haze
Now this is what we call a festival look. Of course, you’re going to need some gems. Try out this Sunset Haze pack for a pink and oyster white face jewel set to amplify your festival mood.
Barry M Cosmetics Glitter Rush Body Glitter
Add a little sparkle to the inners of your eyes because every festival makeup look needs glitter, especially when it's as extra as this.
Morphe Artistry Palette
This look wouldn't be complete without the incredible eyeshadow. We hunted down the exact palette that was used for this particular look and it was none other than Morphe's Artistry Palette.
L'Oréal Paris Colorista Spray Temporary Hair Colour
This is another look for those who are brave enough to change their hair colour, but hey, it's a festival and YOLO! (It’s a temporary colour anyway.) Pick it up in Blue Twist.
Sleek MakeUP Glitterfest Biodegradable Glitter
Go wild with this glitter in your parting. Like seriously, just empty the whole packet onto your hair. You can’t do festival without copious amounts of glitter and this one is biodegradable so you won’t be harming the planet.
Barry M Face Jewels Kit
Another extravagant get-up but a must for your fave music festival! The centre focus of this is, of course, the chunky gems. Pick the Barry M Face Jewels Kit up to mimic this disco look.
Barry M Pick 'n' Glitz
Build up the dazzle around your eyes by applying some extra glitter along your cheekbones with another glitzy classic from Barry M. Not only does it look cute AF but it really sculpts your face, too. WINNING!
BLEACH LONDON The Big Pink Super Cool Colour
Though we can’t take our eyes away from the incredible forehead feature, we also can’t help but ogle the pink and orange hair. It’s. So. Beautiful. Take BLEACH LONDON The Big Pink Super Cool Colour. (Even I gave BLEACH's Blorange a try and it looked sick!)
NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream
Go down a gothic route this year and do deep and daring lips with the Soft Matte in shade Transylvania. And while you’re there, take a fine lip brush and add some little dots on the bridge of your nose and under your eyes.
The Gypsy Shrine Gyspy Shrine Unicorn Crown Face Gem
Get as creative as you like with these gems. They're super chunky and boast an enviable shine so you can really an impact with your jewel artistry! We personally love wearing the gems on the outer corners of your eyes, it's mesmer-eye-sing.
NYX Professional Makeup Metallic Glitter
This glitter in Beauty Beam shines all kinds of blues, oranges, silvers, greens and purples and will look so cool in contrast with the dark lippy. Put it on your eyelids and under your eyes for a clown-esque look.
Illamasqua Jewel Vinyl
Take this sparkly powder in Roxy and place all across your eyes like a glitter mask. It’s giving us major Antonio Banderas in Zorro vibes and we are here for it.
Barry M Cosmetics Pink N Glitz
But you don’t just want to have red glitter, that’s not very festivally at all. You have to mix your glitters to become a master of the festival glitter face. This Barry M glitz in Slay will look awesome across the top of your brows.
We know these looks can often be quite difficult to replicate, especially if you're a beginner when it comes to festival makeup. Watch this tutorial on how to ace the glitter and jewels style, so that when it comes to doing it yourself, you'll be a pro.
Sweet & Simple:
Too Faced Glitter Pop Eyeliner
So you don’t like the fantastical look but you want to get involved? With a glitter eyeliner like this Too Faced in Super Fun Night, you can create an array of festival looks but without having to put in too much effort. We love this Bowie inspired lightning strike.
Lottie London Retractable Brow Pencil with Spoolie
Faux freckles are the next big thing in beauty and everyone is wanting to get their hands on these innocent-looking beauty marks. They’re cute and playful and don’t just have to go across your nose and cheeks; you can literally draw them on anywhere! Just use a medium-toned brow pencil to precisely (and lightly) draw on the beauty spots.
Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Liner
Now this look we can hop on board with. It’s minimalist, minimal effort and looks so cool. It’s great for those of you who prefer a more understated festival beauty look. With this liquid liner in Bump (or any colour for that matter) you can draw all kinds of fun shapes and patterns.
Yves Saint Laurent Vinyl Couture Mascara
Coloured mascara is slowly becoming a thing and there’s no place like a festival to channel this up-and-coming trend. Try this YSL Vinyl Mascara in 6 to recreate this all-out pink look.
Bobbi Brown Blush
This blusher in Peony pink perfectly complements the mascara. It’s the ultimate beauty sidekick for a festival look as chic as this.
Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss
Complete the look and perfect your pout with this moisturising lip gloss. It’ll also keep your lips quenched at all times because festivals are seriously thirsty work. Stay hydrated, kids.
No matter which type of festival-goer you are, everyone likes to dress up and get their glitter on. We mean, it’s part and parcel of going to a festival and, artists aside, it’s the best bit! Whichever look you go for, you're going to look incredible! And don't forget about your nails: discover the best nail shades for summer 2019 to go alongside your festival makeup. Happy festivalling, campers!
